Prayer for Life in Strasbourg - 300 children are aborted each hour in Europe
More than 100 people were gathered and united in prayer for life in Strasbourg today. On the 13th of June 2012, voices from all over Europe came to the door of the European institutions to say a word against the moral crime of abortion.
The manifestation was organized by EuroProLife, a catholic pro-life association based in Munich (website http://europrolife.com). People coming Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, France, Portugal, Belgium, Russia and Poland were among the multitude. "This manifestation is a prayer - it´s a Christian, ecumenical and pacific prayer", said an EuroProLife spokesperson. Two priests and some journalists were also present.
More than 300 children are aborted each hour in Europe. In this time of economic crisis, too little is said and done about the crisis of values, which is bigger than the other one. This manifestation was held near the European institutions of Strasbourg in order to pray for the politicians, judges and journalists, hoping that they become more and more sensible to the fundamental Human Rights, being the first of all the Right to Life.
The manifestants sang and prayed, while carrying dozens of white crosses, a symbol of sacrifice and at the same time of victory and peace. On the front, an image of "Our Lady of Guadalupe" lead the procession. Wolfgang Hering, President of EuroProLife explained: "My protestant friends may ask me what´s the reason of having here the image of the Virgin Mary. The reason is simple: we cannot show the unborn baby Jesus without showing his Mother".
The manifestation/procession begun at 1pm in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg and went from there to the Council of Europe, having also stoped on the way in front of the European Court of Human Rights. A lot of people stoped to see the prayers, take photos, and some of them joined the march.
